Antibody Platform
Alexion has developed a number of technology platforms that provide the company
with a competitive advantage in the generation and selection of therapeutic antibodies.
These include:
- Combinatorial Human Antibody Library Technology (CoALT), Alexion's proprietary
antibody phage display platform, which enables the creation of antibody libraries
containing billions of different human or other mammalian antibody genes and the
selection of new therapeutic targets.
- Alexion's proprietary antibody humanization technology, enabling antibodies generated
from non-human sources to be converted to antibodies largely comprised of human-derived
sequences.
- Alexion's proven ability to rapidly generate, select and implement high expressing
mammalian cell lines to support all phases of research with new antibodies.
Through these technologies, the company's goal is to develop new therapeutic antibodies
and proteins that address multiple disease areas, including autoimmune and inflammatory
disorders and cancer.
